Synthesis of certain benzothiazole derivatives to be evaluated as anthelmintics
New derivatives of 6-nitro-2-substitutedacetamidobenzothiazole (2a,3a-e), 3-substituted 2-iminothiazolidin-4-one (4a-e) and 5-arylidene-2-iminothiazolidin-4-one (5a-j) were prepared. The testing for the anthelmintic activity of two of the newly prepared compounds using the earthworm method showed that they produce a promising effect. The detailed synthesis, spectroscopic and biological data are reported .

Synthesis of new pyridines and
1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridines.
Abstract : Reaction of 3-cyano-4,6-dlsubstituted-2-oxo-i,2-dlhydropyrldlne 1a with phosphorus pentasulphide gave the corresponding 2-thio-l,2-dihydropyrldlne 3. The reaction of compounds la,b with mixture of phosphorus oxychlorlde and phosphorus pentachloride afforded the 2-chloropyridlne derivatives 4ab . Treatment of 43ib with hydrazine hydrate gave the corresponding 2-hydrazino derivatives 5a D. Reaction of 5a D with acid chlorides and carbon disulphlde afforded the corresponding 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridines 7ag and 8ab, under the conditions of reacting compound 5aD with the above mentioned reagents, the cyano group was completely hydrolysed to carboxylic acid. On the other hand, conversion of 5a t, Into schlff bases 6a n followed by cycllzation with bromine in acetic acid produced compounds 7ag.
